JAMMU, May 3: Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan,” police across multiple districts of Jammu and achieved significant successes by arresting several drug peddlers and recovering heroin and other incriminating materials.
In Kathua, police under the supervision of SSP Mohita Sharma recovered approximately 35.04 grams of heroin (chitta), along with Rs 75,940 in cash, 35 mobile phones, a laptop, an electronic weighing machine and 120 transparent poly pouches from the residence of an accused.
Acting on reliable information, police raided the house of Amandeep Singh, a resident of Ward No. 08 Kathua, who was allegedly involved in selling narcotics, particularly targeting local youth.
A case FIR No. 225/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is underway to trace the source and network of the contraband.
Meanwhile, in Samba district, a police team from Police Station Ramgarh apprehended a suspected drug peddler during naka checking at Tarapur Road near the Devak River.
The accused, identified as Faizan Hamid of Rajbagh Srinagar, was found in possession of approximately 9.73 grams of heroin.
He was arrested on the spot and a case FIR No. 28/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered.
In another case, Samba Police today arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba and recovered approximately 2.21 grams heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession.
A team of Police Post Supwal of PS Samba during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Supwal, intercepted an Alto Car bearing registration No HP74-1570 which was coming from the Samba side and moving towards Vijaypur side.
During checking, approximately 2.21 grams of heroin-like substance (chitta) was recovered from the possession of both the persons travelling in the said car.
The drug peddlers identified as Nikhil Thakur, son of Arunesh Kumar, resident of Village Phaphan, Tehsil and District Hamirpur (HP) and Tushar, son of Kartar Chand Kundan, resident of House No. 28, Ward No. 55, Kunjawani Bypass Jammu have been arrested.
The contraband item along with the car has also been seized. A case FIR No 103/2026 U/S 8/21/25/29 has been registered at PS Samba.
In Udhampur, police from Police Station Latti intercepted an i20 car during routine checking near Dream Land Public School, Latti.
Upon search, around 4 grams of heroin were recovered from one of the occupants, identified as Mohd Rafiq of Sira, Kulakh.
The accused has been arrested, and FIR No. 15/2026 has been registered under the NDPS Act.
Similarly, in Nowshera, police achieved success during routine naka checking near Tunnel Bridge.
A scooty without registration was intercepted, and approximately 3 grams of heroin were recovered from the possession of the rider, identified as Javid Hussain alias Palla, a resident of Ward No. 01 Nowshera, Rajouri.
He was arrested, and a case FIR No. 80/2026 has been registered under the NDPS Act.
