KATHUA, Apr 26:- Continuing its efforts against drug menace, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma recovered approximately 303 grams of Heroin (Chitta) near Berrian Pattan Naka area of PP Industrial Estates Kathua.
One drug peddler was arrested and the vehicle involved in smuggling of contraband was seized.
Police said acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source on Saturday, its team led by in charge Police Post (PP) Industrial Estates, Kathua under the supervision of Additional SP Kathua, DySP Hqrs Kathua and SHO PS, Kathua laid down a special naka/ checking near Berrian Pattan naka area and apprehended one person namely Ali Sen, son of Rehim Din of Jand, Nangal Dayal Singh, district Amritsar Punjab who was enrouted on vehicle bearing Registration Number PB02BX-9868 from Bhagthali towards Maggar Khad NHW and having approximately 303 grams of heroin in his possession. The recovered contraband and vehicle involved was seized and the accused person was taken into police custody on the spot. In this regard a case vide FIR No. 213/2026 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kathua.
In another case Kathua police seized approximately 5.45 grams of Heroin and arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdictional areas of Police Station Hiranagar and P/S Basohli.
Police said in the first instance, the police team was led by SHO PS Hiranagar under the guidance of SP Ops Border-Kathua & SDPO Border during patrolling in its jurisdictional area at Hiranagar near Dushera Ground apprehended one person enrouted under suspicious circumstances. During further questioning, he disclosed his name as Pardeep Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Jandi tehsil Hiranagar and district Kathua. On thorough checking approximately 2.79 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession and the said accused was arrested. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 46/2026 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act registered at PS Hiranagar and further investigation in the case is going on.
In the second instance, on 25.04.2026, the police team led by SHO PS Basohli assisted by IC PCP Mahanpur under the guidance of SP Ops Upper Kathua & SDPO Basohli during patrolling in Mahanpur area apprehended one person enrouted under suspicious circumstances. During further questioning, he disclosed his name as Rahees Butt, S/o Mohd Saleem of Dher Dewal tehsil Billawar, district Kathua. On thorough checking approximately 2.66 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession which was seized and the person was arrested.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 19/2026 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act was registered at PS Basohli and further investigation in the case is going on.
