Magnolia Cup golf tourney held in Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 26: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter, in collaboration with the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Jammu Tourism, and the Jammu Tawi Golf Course, organised The Magnolia Cup-a vibrant and inclusive golf tournament at the scenic Jammu Tawi Golf Course.
The event witnessed participation from over 100 players, including entrepreneurs, professionals, members of the business community, sportspersons, armed forces personnel, and golf enthusiasts, making it a unique platform for sports, networking, and community engagement.
The tournament was graced by a cabinet minister as the chief guest, who appreciated the initiative for promoting Jammu as a growing hub for sports and business tourism. The guest of honour, Vikram Jeet Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, also lauded the efforts of FLO JKL in conceptualising the event.
Prominent officials present included Arun Manhas, Director Industries & Commerce; Aijaz Qaisar, Joint Director Tourism; and Manav Gupta, Secretary, Jammu Tawi Golf Course, who participated in the ceremonial tee-off.
The tournament featured a Scramble format for professionals and a putting segment for amateurs, encouraging inclusivity and teamwork. The Overall Winning Team included Showkat Maqbool, Parikshit Bishnoi, Rajesh Prabhakar and Col. Malakay, who delivered an outstanding performance. In the Putting Competition, Wadhana Khan emerged as the Overall Winner. Several other prizes were awarded in categories such as Straight Drive, Longest Drive, Nearest to Pin, and Bulls Eye, adding excitement to the event.
The initiative also highlighted a larger social vision of establishing a skilling centre for women empowerment, aimed at promoting self-reliance and financial independence.
Chairperson Varsha Bansal stated that The Magnolia Cup was designed not only as a sporting event but also as a platform to boost tourism, networking and social impact. The event concluded with a gala networking dinner, live music, and a prize distribution ceremony, with active participation from the FLO JKL Core Team and past chairpersons.
