JAMMU, Apr 19: An Army jawan posted in the dog unit was found hanging inside a military camp at Nagrota area here, officials said today.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Shinde (28), son of Popat Shinde, a resident of Maharashtra.
Officials said he was found hanging from the ceiling with the help of a rope inside the residential quarters of the camp on the intervening night of April 18 and 19.
He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.
According to them, the body has been kept in the mortuary of the hospital for post-mortem, while police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Army has also initiated a departmental inquiry to investigate into the matter.
