HC admits petition by aggrieved plot owners

JAMMU, Apr 17: Admitting the petition filed by plot owners/applicants of various housing projects under J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has directed the respondent Cooperative Housing Corporation and the Government of UT of J&K to file their reply.
The petitioners have sought direction to the respondents to forthwith hand over physical possession of the plots allotted to them in their respective Housing projects, complete development of the housing colonies in question and provide all basic civic and physical infrastructures.
The plaintiffs are among those thousands of aggrieved plot owners of Housing Societies under J&K Govt Cooperative Department who are experiencing an extremely long delay of upto 20 years in getting physical possession of plots for which full amount has been paid by them.
The Housing Corporation projects include, Baran Valley Mega City, Panchvati, Royal Residency, Kud etc. Though the allotment of plot was done on paper, the physical possession is still pending
Admitting petition and taking cognizance of the matter, the High Court has ordered respondents to file their reply by 18th May 2026.
