KUPWARA, Apr 17: In order to show unity and resolve against drug menace, the District Administration Kupwara organized a mega Pad Yatra, here today.
The yatra was taken out to send a strong message against drug abuse and reaffirming the collective commitment towards a healthier, drug-free society.
The rally was flagged off by MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone, in presence of Commissioner/secretary School Education Department and District Mentor-100 days NMBA campaign Ram Niwas Sharma, DC Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal, Director Colleges Prof (Dr) S Ajaz Bashir and ADC Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi, alongside enthusiastic participation from Former DDC members, officers, civil society members, traders association, transport association, youth and a large number of students.
The overwhelming participation reflected a strong and growing public resolve to eliminate this menace from society.
The march moved through key streets and markets, drawing widespread public attention and energizing the anti-drug campaign at the grassroots level.
Participants also took the “Nasha Mukt” pledge, reaffirming their determination to stand united against substance abuse.
The rally culminated at Government Degree College Handwara, where speakers and dignitaries emphasized that the fight against drugs is not just an administrative responsibility but a societal mission requiring collective vigilance, awareness and sustained action.
Earlier, a signature campaign was conducted, symbolizing a shared commitment to building a drug-free future.
Notably, similar Pad Yatras were organized simultaneously across Handwara sub-division under the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan.
Later District Mentor also inspected functioning of Addiction treatment facility at GMC Handwara.
