MUMBAI, Apr 12 : “The news of Ashatai’s passing is profoundly sad. Her voice was one of the pillars of Indian cinema I will miss her dearly,” said bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a post on Sunday.
“She always showered me with blessings and love,” he said on social media platforms which carried pictures of SRK with the legendary playback singer.
Veteran actor Kamal Haasan shared a video capturing cherished memories with the late singer and conveyed his emotions on social media, referring to her as “an eternal singer and a dear friend”.
Renowned singer Hariharan remembered her as one of India’s greatest musical legends, emphasising that her contribution over 70 years was beyond ordinary human capacity and calling her “a divine gift”.
Actor Jackie Shroff offered an emotional tribute, saying that Asha-ji was so deeply rooted in his heart that he would never truly feel her absence, adding that she would remain immortal for him.
Composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan described the day as a dark moment for the world of music, saying he always regarded her as “a form of Mata Saraswati” and that her voice would continue to echo across the world for as long as music exists.
