SUNDERBANI, Apr 12: Former MLC and chief spokesperson JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma has advised the party workers to keep close watch on the exercise undertaken by the Election authorities for the revision of voter lists and ensure only genuine voters are registered.
Addressing a largely attended meeting of party workers and prominent functionaries of Blocks – Sunderbani, Devak and Siot at Sunderbani today, Sharma demanded that all dead, double and fictitious voters should be deleted by the authorities and asked party cadre to keep an eye on the entire exercise of voter list revision and updating.
Welcoming several prominent persons into Congress party, Sharma said that vote is a precious right which should not denied to anyone who is a genuine voter.
He said that people will continue to suffer on many fronts and face lack of proper governance and accountability, till statehood is restored and asked people to join the Congress movement. He also referred to large scale unemployment and joblessness and demanded fast track recruitment besides regularisation of daily wagers, need based and all temporary and contractual employees.
JKPCC leader urged the Government to assess the crop loss to the farmers and also sought timely availability of seed, fertilizer for next crop. He also demanded opening of a wheat procurement `Mandi’ at Sunderbani like in other parts of Jammu province.
Prominent persons who joined Congress on the occasion under the leadership of Ravinder Sharma included- Om Parkash retired Lecture, Ex-ASI Om Parkash, Munshi Ram, Sat Bhushan, Shalik Ram, Mohd Shabir and others.
Prominent who addressed the meeting included-Block presidents- N C Sharma, Ajit Singh and Tirth Ram Sharma; Thoru Ram, Dwarka Nath, Yog Raj, Rajiv Chadha, Pankaj Raina, Mohd Anwar Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar, Baby Ram Bhagat and others.
