PSA elects G N Var as Chief Patron

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: The Private Schools Association (PSA) has unanimously elected its founding president Dr G N Var as the Chief Patron.
Besides, the Association has unanimously elected the central leadership in the presence of all members. Bilal Ahmad Bhat was elected as President; Manzoor Ahmad Rather as Senior Vice President & Chief Spokesperson; Mohammad Syed Wani as General Secretary, Hilal Ahmad Khan as Secretary Finance, Ghulam Hassan Rather as Vice President, Kashmir Province; Shafiqul Islam Wani as Vice President, Jammu Province; Dr Waseem Siddique as Publicity Secretary, Dr Yasir Ramzan as Joint Secretary and Dr Owais Mattoo as Media Incharge.
Aadil Habib was elected as District President, Srinagar; Dr Sheikh Arshad as District President, Pulwama; Tanveer Ahmad Lone as District President, Kupwara; Firdous Mustafa as District President, Baramulla; Javaid Ahmad as District President, Ganderbal.
The election ceremony was graced by renowned social scientist Dr Maoof Shah, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry; Mehboob Hussain, former Joint Director, School Education Department; Prof Najam ud din Qazi, former Principal, Government College of Education, Srinagar; Shabir Gilani, Raham Community Services Trust and Nazim Nazir.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation of Edu Leaders, including members of the PSA central body, district presidents and zonal heads from across Kashmir province, along with prominent guests from various fields. The Chairman of Chenab Valley, Khursheed Bismal, also joined the programme virtually.
The event also marked the formal inauguration of the PSA Central Office at Neelam Lane, Civil Secretariat Road, Srinagar.
Earlier, speakers noted that the association had faced a leadership vacuum after G N Var stepped aside and stressed that his absence was deeply felt during this period.
Several speakers expressed serious concern over the delay in conducting elections by the ad-hoc committee, which was originally mandated for three months to ensure free and fair elections. It was highlighted that more than six months have passed without progress, leading to uncertainty and dissatisfaction among members.
