JAMMU, Apr 10: Aimed at empowering underprivileged families by connecting them with various welfare initiatives of the Central Government, an extensive awareness programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was held today.
The programme was organized by Convenor of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao J&K UT, Ritika Trehan.
On the occasion, Ritika interacted with residents and conducted a ground-level assessment of their access to essential documents such as Aadhaar cards, domicile certificates and bank accounts, which are crucial for availing benefits under multiple flagship schemes.
Emphasizing that “no document means no benefit,” she urged families to complete all necessary paperwork to ensure their inclusion in Government schemes.
Ritika Trehan elaborated on several key initiatives of Narendra Modi aimed at uplifting economically weaker sections in Jammu and Kashmir.
She informed them that the Modi Government has simplified procedures and promoted digital platforms to make services more accessible, especially for marginalized communities.
Reiterating the importance of education, especially for girls, Ritika appealed to parents to ensure that all children are enrolled in schools and attend regularly.
Further, she spoke about the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, under which women are provided free LPG connections to ensure smoke-free kitchens and better health.
She highlighted that the Government is providing scholarships, free textbooks, uniforms and other incentives to encourage education among disadvantaged sections.
The programme witnessed active participation from residents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the initiative.
Several beneficiaries sought guidance on how to register for schemes and complete documentation, while others shared their challenges regarding access to services.
Concluding the visit, Ritika Trehan reiterated her commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen benefits from Government welfare programmes.
The outreach programme served as an important step towards bridging the gap between policy and people, ensuring that the benefits of Government initiatives reach the last mile.
