Property worth Rs 16.20 lakh attached in Shopian

SHOPIAN, Apr 5: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have attached a residential property worth over Rs 16 lakh in Shopian town, alleging it was acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.
Officials said a single-storey house valued at Rs 16, 20, 444, under Khasra number 1070/360, belonging to one Khurshid Ahmad Itoo of Takiya Reban, Zainpora, has been attached in connection with FIR number 117/2025 registered at Police Station Zainpora.
They said the property was identified during investigation as having been purchased from money generated through the illegal sale of narcotics.
The action was carried out by a duly constituted team in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar, ensuring full compliance with legal procedures, they said.
