Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT-NDPS Act

JAMMU, Apr 4: Police here in Miran Sahib area today claimed to have booked a habitual and wanted drug peddler under the PIT-NDPS Act and lodged him in District Jail Kishtwar.
The accused has been identified as Sahil Choudhary, a resident of Chak Alawal in the Miran Sahib area.
A police official said the accused was detained after the Divisional Commissioner Jammu issued formal detention orders under the PIT-NDPS Act.
He said the accused has been involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act and was actively supplying drugs to local youth.
The police official further stated that the accused had earlier been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act in 2024, but after his release, he resumed drug trafficking and was recently arrested in another NDPS case.
Despite being booked in several FIRs, he continued his illegal activities and repeatedly secured bail from courts, he said.
In view of his continued involvement in drug peddling, police prepared a fresh dossier under the PIT-NDPS Act to prevent him from engaging in such activities, the police official said.
Acting on the dossier, he said, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu issued a detention warrant, following which he was taken into custody.
The action was carried out by a team from Police Station Miran Sahib led by SHO concern, Inspector Jatinder Singh.
