LG’s assurance has generated hope in community: Yogi

JAMMU, Mar 28: Prominent Kashmiri Pandits in a meeting here, today discussed the pressing issues of displaced Kashmiri Pandits which need immediate attention of the UT as well as Central Governments for redressal.
Addressing the meeting senior KP leader, M K Yogi expressed the hope that Government has given assurance of settling all the issues of the displaced Pandits. He said LG’s assurance has generated a hope in the community.
He informed the gathering about the meeting held with Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in this regard recently by prominent members of community led by him. Yogi, while highlighting the issues discussed with LG said stress was given extension of time period for filling of NAFSA forms, one more general amnesty for migrants like past, enhancement of monthly cash assistance from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000, renovation of residential quarters in camps which are in bad condition, construction of more quarters for migrants living on rent in various parts of Jammu region and for those living in ghettos in Purkhoo camp, allotment of accommodation to PM package employees working in Valley who are still living in rented accommodations.
The memorandum also highlighted that the Government should issue the directions to concerned department to release the left out compensation to gutted and damaged houses of migrants in Kashmir, besides respective deputy Commissioners in Kashmir be directed to implement the Migrant Distress Sale Act of 1997 in letter and spirit and settling of the grievances of the people whose land has been forcefully encroached, announcement of new employment package for displaced youth, compensation to over aged youth of community, formation of concrete and tangible rehabilitation policy, formation of Apex Committee of socio-political activists of the community, reopening of Martand Sun temple, involvement of local KPs and displaced Pandits in annual Amarnath yatra with KPs be given special permission for installation of langars.
Yogi said the LG gave a patient hearing to the delegation and has assured that these issues will be taken up with concerned authorities. The other KP leaders who were present included Vinod Pandit, Vishal Jyotshi socio political activists, Kamal Ganjoo and Rohit Koul.
