NEW DELHI, Mar 17: Amit Sharma, Director Census Operations (DCO) & Director Citizen Registration (DCR), Ministry of Home Affairs for the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, mentioned Census 2027 as the basis of Climate Resilience strategies in the valedictory session of three-day Resilience & Sustainability Summit – Vision 2047 organised at IIT Roorkee, Greater Noida Campus.
The event was attended by policy makers, Vice Chancellors of various universities, researchers, Government Ministries and Departments like NDMA, DST and even global experts.
Amit was invited as a special guest to deliver keynote address in valedictory session especially due to his rich experience and exposure to travelling and working across different climatic conditions like Ladakh, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh and peninsular India.
He shared concerns during about fast changing climatic conditions in almost all regions of the nations, right from up north to north east and southern belts, primarily owing to global warming and lifestyle changes of people, over past couple of decades. At the same time, he termed upcoming Census 2027 to act as a catalyst in getting latest demographic data with precision along with minutest details like internet connection, mobile phones, televisions, etc in the households which can helping in assessing the need for product recycling and residue reuse activities which are much needed for ensuring climatic resilience and sustainability in the current tough fast changing weather scenarios.
Amit Sharma appreciated the organisation of RESSUMIT 2026 primarily on five tracks namely Climate Knowledge, Regional Vulnerabilities, Health and Well Being, Industry and Safety & Policy Dialogue wherein subject specialists are expressing their views on related subjects.
He was joined by Prof Anil K Gupta, Secretary RESSummit 2026, IIT Roorkee (Organisational Chair), Prof Saket Kushwaha, VC University of Ladakh, Dr Andre Lindner, MD & Advisor Internationalisation, Desrdon University of Technology, Germany and Prof Kalachand Sain, Chairperson – Expert Committee, NMSKCC.
