JAMMU, Mar 8: Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi has said when a Pakistan soldier presses a button , the equipment, the information and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) is from a different country which means the interoperability is a cause of concern. He said the Indian Army has contributed significantly to economy of the Union Territory of Ladakh, much more than the tourists.
Speaking at the podcast, the Army Chief quoted Russia-Ukraine example saying the Russia has said that as of today, only the button is being pressed by the Ukrainian while the missile is from someone else, the information is also from someone else and the guidance from someone.

“As far as Pakistan is concerned, if I can say that a Pakistani soldier is only pressing the button. Equipment is there from a different country, the information which is reaching through satellites is from a different country and AI which is a network which is provided also from a country,” the Chief of Army Staff said.
“So what it means if Pakistan is obtaining this capability from somewhere, it means the interoperability is a cause of concern for me,” he added.
Asserting that there is not much change in behavior of Pakistan post Operation Sindoor, Gen Dwivedi stressed for the need to remain alert.
“As far as Operation Sindoor is concerned, India decided that decisive deterrence will not work and we have to be very credible about it. So, the three things which are required for the deterrence are: credibility, capability and will to wage war,’’ he said, adding this is the first time when we actually executed all that (during Operation Sindoor).
Asserting that they have to be always prepared to take on any eventuality with our western neighbor, Gen Dwivedi said he is not finding a lot of changes in Pakistan behavior which were expected after Operation Sindoor. “Because of the Article 27 amendment ( in Pakistan constitution) which has taken place that has given complete powers and immunity to the Field Marshal (Asim Munir),” he added.
The Chief of Army Staff added that the three Services, the nuclear command and the polity in Pakistan has become subservient, with the military courts working.
“So what is happening today is a cause of worry for a common Pakistani and their bureaucracy. That is it a martial law indirect? or it’s something else,” he said.
Gen Dwivedi said the Army has been significantly contributing to Viksit Bharat, infrastructure development and boosting economy.
“In Ladakh, the money which military pitches in Ladakh is much more than the tourists pitch giving boost to the economic development there. We are making purchases from local Cooperatives, running Goodwill Schools in Ladakh,’’ he said, adding wherever infrastructure is created the tourists come.
