JAMMU, Mar 5: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh today chaired a crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu to assess the law and order situation and review policing measures across the district.
The meeting was attended by Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySP DSB Jammu, DySP DAR Jammu, senior prosecuting officers of DPO Jammu, Incharge FSL Unit DPL Jammu, all SHOs and Incharges of police posts.
During the meeting, the SSP reviewed the prevailing security scenario and directed officers to remain vigilant and alert in their respective areas.
He asked them to intensify surveillance, particularly at religious places, critical installations and other identified hotspots.
Officers were instructed to increase foot patrolling, conduct long and short range patrols, and set up random nakas at strategic locations to prevent any disruption by anti-social or anti-national elements.
The SSP also reviewed the progress of crime investigations and directed officers to ensure quality investigation and time-bound disposal of cases.
He stressed that investigations must be completed within the stipulated 60 and 90 day limits to ensure speedy justice to victims.
Issues related to NDPS cases, property offences, missing persons, absconders and history-sheeters were also discussed during the meeting.
Progress on CCTNS, e-Sakshya, e-Summons and other digital policing initiatives was reviewed, while officers were directed to ensure mandatory utilization of FSL services as per provisions of the new criminal laws.
Reiterating a policy of zero tolerance against drugs, the SSP directed officers to identify drug peddlers and take strict action against those involved in drug trafficking.
He also asked officers to keep strict surveillance on released organized criminals and take necessary steps to curb their activities.
Emphasizing citizen-friendly policing, the SSP instructed officers to implement provisions like Zero FIR and e-FIR and ensure prompt response to public grievances.
He also warned that there will be zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline or suppression of crime at any level, while urging officers to maintain professionalism and polite behaviour while dealing with the public.
