SRINAGAR, Mar 5: The Crime Branch Kashmir today apprehended a habitual fake job fraudster from Haryana who allegedly cheated several youths from Srinagar by promising them overseas employment, particularly in Armenia.
A spokesperson said a special team of the Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir arrested the accused, identified as Farhat Abbas Malik, son of Din Mohammad Malik and a resident of Tendla Chilipingal in Doda district, from Faridabad in Haryana.
According to the spokesperson, Malik had been evading arrest for several months in connection with FIR No. 02/2025 registered at the Police Station Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir. “The accused duped several young people by offering them jobs abroad and collecting money from them under the pretext of arranging employment in countries such as Armenia,” he said.
Following his arrest, Malik was produced before a duty magistrate in Faridabad, where the Crime Branch obtained his transit remand. He was later brought to Srinagar and produced before a competent court.
Police described Malik as a “habitual fraudster” involved in fake job scams targeting unemployed youth. “The public, particularly job seekers, are advised to verify the authenticity of job placement agencies and consultancies before making any payments to avoid falling victim to fraud,” he said.
