Course on ‘Investigation of Cyber Crime’ commences at SKPA Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: A five-day course on “Investigation of Cyber Crime”, sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs was today commenced at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
A total of 21 Police Officers are participating in the course, including 19 officers from J&K Police, one Assistant Superintendent of Police from Imphal, Manipur and one Inspector from Telangana Police.
The primary objective of the programme is to enhance the knowledge and professional skills of investigating officers in dealing with cybercrime and cyber fraud cases.
During the course, participants will be sensitized about emerging trends in cybercrime, relevant legal provisions and counter-measures.
The training will also provide hands-on exposure to Cyber Forensics, digital evidence handling and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for effective investigation of cybercrime cases.
An inaugural function was organized at SKPA, wherein Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Dy Director (Indoor Trainings), SKPA Udhampur, presided over the function as the chief guest.
In his address, Gupta extended a warm welcome to all the participants and highlighted the significance of specialized training in cybercrime investigation.
He elaborated on various facets of cybercrime, including cyber bullying, cyber stalking, online job frauds, phishing, viruses and Trojans, cyber-squatting, crypto-jacking and other technology-enabled offences.
Gupta emphasized that with the rapid expansion of the digital ecosystem, cybercrime has emerged as a major challenge for law enforcement agencies, making it imperative to equip police officers with updated technical knowledge and investigative skills.
The course is being coordinated by Inspector Vivek Kalsotra, assisted by HC Randip Singh, both members of the faculty at SKPA.
