JAMMU, Mar 1: Mission Statehood president Sunil Dimple today led a strong protest rally on Janipur High Court Road, demanding restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The rally witnessed participation of several leaders and supporters from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, who raised slogans in favour of statehood and restoration of constitutional safeguards.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to restore J&K’s statehood and reinstate Article 370. He also called for the unification of all the regions of the erstwhile princely state, including PoJK, Gilgit and Baltistan.
He further demanded implementation of the provisions of the Instrument of Accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh and the safeguards that were earlier available to the people of J&K. He asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to restore the state subject system and take steps for protecting the rights of the residents.
Alleging that the absence of statehood has affected development and prosperity across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Dimple said the people are facing uncertainty and demanded early constitutional and political restoration.
Among those who spoke on the occasion included Pappu Virdi, Mohinder Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Imtiyaz Khan, Amit Gill, Sudesh Kumar, Ilfaz Gill, Muna, Aman Tarun, Mohammad Amin and Hasan Khan, besides several others.
