SRINAGAR, Mar 1: Janta Dal United (JDU) State president, G M Shaheen has made an appeal to the Government of India and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to immediately initiate contingency evacuation measures for Indian nationals residing in Dubai and Qatar in view of the rapidly escalating tensions between the United States (US) and Iran.
The situation in the Gulf region has become increasingly volatile today witnessed massive disruptions across international air routes following the closure of multiple airspaces with over 700 flights reportedly cancelled panic uncertainty and widespread disruption of travel and commercial activity have intensified across the region. Such developments clearly indicate the seriousness of the unfolding geopolitical crisis, Shaheen said.
He said millions of Indians are working and residing in the Gulf region particularly in Dubai and Qatar. Any escalation in military confrontation or further airspace restrictions may expose our citizens to grave risks including threats to life livelihood and safe mobility. There is genuine apprehension of humanitarian distress if precautionary measures are not taken immediately, he added.
The JDU urged the Government of India to activate emergency evacuation preparedness plans keep Indian missions in the Gulf on high alert establish round the clock helplines for Indian nationals coordinate with airlines and international authorities for special evacuation corridors and issue immediate travel advisories and safety protocols.
