MOSCOW, Feb 17: NATO is creating a multinational force in the Baltic for offensive operations against Russia, Russian presidential aide and chairman of the Russian Marine Board Nikolai Patrushev said.
“The situation in the Baltic is certainly complex. NATO is effectively creating a multinational force focused on offensive operations,” Patrushev said in an interview with the aif.ru news website.
“NATO plans include a blockade of Russia’s Kaliningrad Region and the seizure of Russian merchant ships,” Patrushev said, adding that NATO’s plans include sabotage of underwater communications in the Baltic, for which the alliance will then cynically blame Russia.
Additionally, Finland is receiving corvettes with strike weapons capable of reaching Russia’s northwestern regions, Patrushev said.
