JAMMU, Feb 10: A delegation of the Gujjar Bakerwal Employees Association (GBEA), Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory, today called on the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the long-pending, genuine, and pressing issues faced by Gujjar and Bakarwal employees and the community at large.
The delegation was led by Chairman, GBEA (J&K UT), Ch Mohd Asad Noomani, and comprised senior office bearers from the UT and Provincial levels. During the meeting, the representatives apprised the Speaker of the systematic neglect, administrative bottlenecks, and socio-economic challenges confronting the Gujjar and Bakarwal community, particularly in the spheres of employment, education, welfare, and cultural preservation.
The Speaker listened patiently to the delegation and assured them that the issues raised would be given due consideration at the appropriate level, reiterating his commitment to justice, equality, and inclusive development.
The memorandum laid special emphasis on the effective implementation of reservation policies and welfare measures for the Gujjar and Bakarwal community. The delegation sought immediate intervention to ensure, reservation in promotions and higher education, inclusion of RRET teachers in one-time promotional benefits, immediate holding of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) from Teachers to Masters and clearance of pending promotions from Masters to Headmasters, adequate staffing in schools, particularly in tribal and remote areas, re-establishment and strengthening of ST welfare schemes, release of pending GPF cases, construction of hostels and enhancement of scholarships for tribal students, increased representation of Gujjar and Bakarwal youth in government services, improved healthcare facilities in tribal belts, infrastructure development in remote and hilly areas, dkill development and vocational training initiatives,Grant of TA/DA to seasonal teachers and exemption from Smart attendance in difficult terrains.
