*Bhalla leads party campaign in RS Pura

JAMMU, Feb 9: Congress will hold MGNREGA Bachao protest march to LG’s office on Feb 14 in Jammu, as part of nationwide campaign of the AICC besides to highlight the statehood movement “ Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq.
This was decided in a preparatory meeting of senior Congress leaders, District presidents and frontal wings heads at PCC office Jammu today. The meeting decided participation of delegates from all Districts in order to raise voice against assault on rural economy and deprive the rural poor of their livelihood.
Addressing the gathering, Karra took review of the ongoing movement MGNREGA Bachao Sangram in all districts across UT and stressed the need to further carry forward this Sangram alongwith Statehood movement “ Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq “ to each village and household.
PCC chief said that by replacing MGNREGA the rural poor will suffer starvation and loose right to labour. He said Statehood movement of Congress has become a household slogan now and Congress will carry forward it and intensify the struggle to achieve full statehood..
Several Senior leaders spoke on the occasion including working president Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram Ex-Minister, chief spokesperson and Ex-MLC Ravinder Sharma, EX-MLC & I/C Hqs Ved Mahajan, Ex-MP T.S. Bajwa, Ex-Ministers Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Yash Pal Kundal, former Legislators Th Balbir Singh, Naresh Gupta, Mumtaz Khan, Ashok Dogra & Sham Lal Bhagat, Rajnish Sharma (Treasurer), Th Manmohan Singh, Ajay Salalia, Ashok Sharma, Javed Lone, Vijay Sharma and others.
Meanwhile, Raman Bhalla accompanied by District Jammu Rural president Neeraj Kundan today intensified the ongoing “MGNREGA Bachao Sangram” at Rangpur Sidhra in RS Pura, asserting that the employment guarantee scheme is a statutory right of rural workers and any attempt to weaken or dilute it amounts to a direct assault on their dignity, livelihood and survival.
Addressing a large gathering, Bhalla said MGNREGA was enacted to provide assured livelihood security to the poorest sections of society, but delays in wage payments, curtailment of workdays, lack of approved works and bureaucratic apathy have pushed lakhs of rural households into economic distress. He demanded immediate release of pending wages, restoration of full workdays and strict monitoring to ensure transparent and effective implementation of the scheme. He also demanded immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
