RAJOURI, Feb 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Nagrota constituency, Devyani Rana, today described the Union Budget 2026 as development-oriented, youth-friendly, and beneficial to the middle class, stating that it would significantly accelerate India’s growth trajectory and generate large-scale employment opportunities.
Rana was addressing a press conference here, today along with BJP district president, Dev Raj Sharma and other senior party leaders. Welcoming the budget, she said it reflects the vision of a progressive and self-reliant India, with a strong focus on inclusive development.
The MLA highlighted that this is the first budget presented from the Kartavya Bhavan and termed it a historic step that would “give wings to the development of the nation and its people.” She lauded Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a people-centric budget without imposing any new taxes, providing much-needed relief to the middle class.
Rana also welcomed the new Income Tax regime set to come into effect from April 1, 2026, saying it would simplify taxation and enhance disposable income for salaried individuals. Describing the budget as particularly youth-friendly, she appreciated the special focus on sports and promotion of sporting talent, which, she said, would benefit young athletes across the country.
She further welcomed the incentives announced for foreign data service companies, stating that these measures would open new avenues of employment in the technology and digital sectors. The reduction in taxes on smartphones, she added, would benefit students and young professionals, while lower prices of household appliances like microwave ovens would provide relief to homemakers.
Emphasizing continued support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Ms. Rana said the budget builds upon earlier initiatives and introduces further measures, including the ‘Corporate Mitra’ initiative, to strengthen this vital sector of the economy.
MLA Devyani Rana asserted that the Union Budget 2026 would play a crucial role in strengthening India’s economy and steering the nation towards sustained and inclusive growth in the years to come.
