Civil Society of Old Janipur holds meet, discusses issues

JAMMU, Feb 6: To discuss their long pending demands, a meeting of J&K Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee was held here today.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Kulwant Singh Sambyal was attended by the other members of the society.
The Civil Society members discussed the long pending demands in the meeting.
Their demands included provision of Nallah sewerage drainage system at Indira Colony, Daily Excelsior Lane, Ward No. 36, Old Janipur and covering of Nallah at Bread Factory road, Mohalla Pandoka Colony in Shant Nagar.
They emphasised need for shifting of waste material dumping in front of the community hall at Mohalla Shant Nagar and also the need for sanitization in the hall.
The members strongly condemned use of poor quality material in the work of construction of a drain.
Concerned residents of Mohalla Shant Nagar, Old Janipur site, stated that the drain near the main road and other works by the Jammu Municipal Corporation and higher authorities are not satisfactory and need immediate spot checks.
They also raised the issue of need for new drain, blacktopping and fixing of non-functioning electric lights at Mohalla Shant Nagar, Ram Vihar, Pandoka Colony, Indra Vihar, Lakkar Mandi, Hari Nagar, Kabir Nagar, Doordarshan Lane and adjoining areas of the JDA Park Old Janipur.
They demanded for the installation of CCTV cameras connected to the Police Station at JDA Park Old Janipur and creation of new park at Patoli Chowk, Mohalla Indira Vihar.
Among others who attended the meeting included Vidya Bhushan, J S Baloria, R L Bhat, Charan Dass, Rajat Sambyal, Charan Dass, Harbhajan Singh, Sat Pal, Rattan Sharma, Vinod Kohli, Yash Pal, Ramesh Kumar, Raghubir Pandit, Hari Krishan, Sunil Kumar, Sham Sunder, Vinod Kumar, Pritam Singh, Girdhari Sharma, DArshan Sharma, Gurnam Kour, Madan Pandit, Sunny Kumar and Shan Gupta.
