Police arrests 3 drug peddlers

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: Police today arrested three drug peddlers in Kashmir, recovering charas from their possession.
According to authorities, during a naka checking at Aftab Mohallah, Warpora crossing in Sopore, police intercepted two suspicious individuals who attempted to flee but were apprehended tactfully.
“During a search, a charas-like substance was recovered from their possession,” police said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, and Aabid Hussain War, son of Mohammad Afzal War, both residents of Warpora, Sopore.
In a separate operation in Awantipora, police conducting naka checking at Reshipora intercepted a suspicious person under the supervision of SHO PS Awantipora and led by IC Police Post Reshipora.
“During the search, 630 grams of charas-like powder were recovered from his possession,” authorities said.
The individual has been identified as Abdul Qayoom Beig, son of Ali Mohammad Beig, resident of Beigpora.
All three accused have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations, where they remain in custody, police said.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the source of the drugs and any wider network involved, police added.
