JAMMU, Jan 28: Demanding relief for students affected by disruptions in the academic calendar, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today staged protests at district headquarters in the Summer Zone.
ABVP held protests in Jammu, Reasi, Rajouri, and Kathua, demanding relief for students affected by disruptions in the academic calendar.
Stating that Summer Zone students have faced significant disruptions in their studies due to Operation Sindoor, summer breaks in May, extreme heat in June-July, and floods in August-September, ABVP demanded that Summer Zone students be granted relief in 10th and 12th board exams to safeguard their future. During the protest, ABVP activists also torched an effigy of Education Minister Sakina Itoo and raised slogans against her. ABVP warned that if Summer Zone students’ demands are not met promptly, it will launch a massive agitation.
Sannak Shrivats, State Secretary of ABVP Jammu Kashmir, said that Education Minister Sakina Itoo’s apathy is jeopardizing Summer Zone students’ futures. He announced that ABVP will soon launch a major agitation against the Education Minister and advocate for students’ rights.
Notably, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has granted a 15 percent syllabus relaxation for students in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zone areas.
“However, Class 12 students in the Summer Zone of Jammu remain excluded from this relief, despite facing disruptions in their academic calendar. ABVP’s demands include granting relief to Summer Zone students in 10th and 12th board exams, extending the 15 percent syllabus relaxation to Class 12 Summer Zone students in Jammu,” said Sannak Shrivats.
