JAMMU, Jan 25: Dogri Sanstha Jammu, one of the oldest literary organizations working for the promotion and preservation of Dogri language and literature, celebrated its 82nd Foundation Day with great enthusiasm.
The Sanstha was founded on Basant Panchami, a day symbolizing knowledge, learning and creativity, which aptly reflects its long-standing literary mission. To commemorate the occasion, the Sanstha organized a Kavi Goshthi, wherein noted Dogri poets and writers presented their original compositions.
The poetic recitations showcased the richness, cultural depth and contemporary relevance of Dogri literature. The poets who recited their poems included Prof Lalit Magotra, Saujanya Sharma, Inderjeet Kesar, Nirmal Vinod, Dr Bansi Lal Gupta, Dr Ashok Khajuria, Sushil Begana, Pawan Verma, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Brij Mohan Dubey, M S Kamra, Dr Pawan Khajuria, Abdul Qadir Kundaria, Jagmohan Sharma, Suman Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Vagish Sharma, Rajendra Narang, Rajni Thapa, Rampal Sharma, Janak Raj Bhagat, Subhash Sumbhadia and Neha Sharma.
The programme was graced by Soujanya Sharma as the chief guest, while the function was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
In his presidential address, Prof Magotra highlighted the historic journey and significant contributions of the Sanstha during its 82 years of existence. He stated that Dogri Sanstha Jammu has played a pioneering role in nurturing Dogri language, strengthening its literary traditions and providing a vibrant platform to writers across generations.
Prof Magotra also called upon writers and the younger generation to actively participate in literary activities and contribute meaningfully to the enrichment and wider recognition of Dogri language.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Susheel Begana in an effective and engaging manner. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Veena Gupta.
