“Mera Bharat Mahan”: Sudarsan Pattnaik’s sand sculpture celebrates 77th Republic Day at Puri beach

PURI, Jan 25: In a spectacular tribute to India’s 77th Republic Day, renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik unveiled a striking sand sculpture at Puri Beach, Odisha, carrying the inspiring message “Mera Bharat Mahan.”

The artwork not only celebrated the nation’s democratic spirit but also paid homage to the vision and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and constitutional architects.

The magnificent sculpture, measuring 8 feet in height and 15 feet in width, was completed in just six hours with the support of students from Pattnaik’s Sand Art Institute.

Speaking on the occasion, Pattnaik emphasized that Republic Day is a reminder of India’s constitutional values, freedom, and collective responsibility to build a strong and inclusive nation.

Through his art, he aims to instill patriotism, unity, and national pride, particularly among the youth.

Over his illustrious career, Sudarsan Pattnaik has participated in more than 65 international sand sculpture championships and used his craft to raise awareness on critical social and environmental issues, including HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, global warming, terrorism, and plastic pollution.

His Republic Day creation at Puri Beach stands as a symbol of India’s enduring spirit and the power of art to inspire.
