JAMMU, Jan 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (JKFFMA) has reorganised its state body and unanimously elected SK Sharma as its Chairman.
The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Ved Gandotra, founder of the Association.
Members of the non-political organisation extended full support to the election and formally welcomed Sharma on assuming charge.
Sharma, a former Commissioner of Income Tax and a noted intellectual, is expected to strengthen the Association’s intellectual, educational and organisational activities.
With his experience in public service and keen interest in Indian history, nationalism and public ethics, he is expected to guide lectures, seminars and youth-focused programmes aimed at promoting national unity, ethical values and constructive nation-building.
The press conference was attended by several office bearers and members, including Ved Gandotra, SK Sharma, Ravinder Mittal, RC Puri, RP Sharma, SS Bhalwal, Thakur Karnail Chand, Pritam Sharma, GI Singh, Sanjeev Dubey, Saurav Sharma, Raj Kumar, Sanotkh Singh, Raj Kumar Chowdhary, Gauru Ram, Nirmal Kishore, Verma, Pawan Sharma and social worker Ritika Mahajan.
The Association reiterated its commitment to honouring the legacy of national freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose and Chandra Shekhar Azad, along with local heroes including Rajinder Singh and Maqbool Sherwani.
It also reaffirmed its resolve to inspire the youth to reject violence, uphold national values and work towards a peaceful, prosperous and corruption-free society.
