Three held with 70-gm heroin-like substance

JAMMU, Jan 13: Police today claimed to have arrested three alleged drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered about 70 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession in the Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu.
A police official said in the first case, on January 4, a police team led by PSI Maan Singh intercepted a suspect during vehicle checking.
On search of the suspect, identified as Som Nath, a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, presently living in Valmiki Colony, Jammu, he said, 30 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered.
Accordingly, he was booked under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar, the police official said, adding that on the disclosure of the arrested individual, another accused, Manav Sonte of Valmiki Colony, Jammu, was also arrested and about 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
He further said that in a separate operation on January 8, a police team led by IC Police Post Nehru Market and PSI Nadeem Akram apprehended one Harpreet Singh alias Bablu of Jerda, Ramgarh in Samba district during naka checking in the Gandhi Nagar area.
“Around 30 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from him, and a separate NDPS case was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar,” said the police official.
He said further investigation in both cases is underway.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Jaipal Sharma.
