REASI, Jan 10: In observance of National Road Safety Month 2026, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Reasi, in collaboration with Kul Devi Bua Jamas Trust, Kote Galli Thuroo, organized a District-Level Road Safety quiz competition at Conference Hall, Dharmari. The programme was conducted under the national theme “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha”, in line with the mission of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to reduce road accidents and promote safe road behaviour.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various educational institutions across the district. Emphasizing the importance of road safety education at an early age, officials highlighted that students are future road users and responsible citizens. Through the quiz competition, students were encouraged to develop a strong understanding of traffic rules and safe commuting practices and to act as road safety ambassadors within their communities.
As part of the road safety initiative, helmets were distributed among two-wheeler riders to encourage the use of protective gear and minimize the risk of serious injuries during road accidents. The programme also included interactive awareness sessions focusing on traffic regulations, road discipline, pedestrian safety and the importance of strict adherence to motor vehicle laws. Information regarding the online services of the Motor Vehicles Department was shared with participants to promote ease of access and transparency.
The programme was jointly organized by the Motor Vehicles Department and the Police Department, reflecting effective inter-departmental coordination. Certificates and trophies were awarded to the winning students to recognize their performance and encourage continued participation in road safety awareness initiatives.
