Drug trafficker detained under PIT-NDPS Act

RAMBAN, Jan 6: Police here today detained a notorious drug peddler under the stringent provisions of Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988.
The detained drug peddler was identified as Wazir Ahmed Shaan, son of Ahmed Din Shaan, resident of Gool, Ramban and he has been placed under preventive detention to prevent his continued involvement in illicit drug trafficking activities, which were posing a serious threat to the public health, particularly the safety and future of the youth.
The detention order was issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, after careful examination of records submitted by the Police authorities.
The preventive action follows two cases registered against the accused, including the one of FIR No. 34/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gool and the other of FIR No. 60/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gangyal, Jammu.
