JAMMU, Dec 29: The PHE/Jal Shakti Department employees held strong protest demonstration and day long dharna in front of the office of Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti at BC Road PHE Complex, Jammu today.
Many employees of the department under the banner of PHE United Front assembled in the PHE Complex, BC Road started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands and also against the higher authorities for ignoring their issues.
Led by senior office bearers including Rajesh Jamwal and Balwadar Raj, the members then sat on dharna in front of the office of Chief Engineer, and continued slogans for long, followed by speeches by senior members. Click here to watch video
While addressing gathering, they demanded that all the daily wagers be regularized under the purview of SRO-64 of 1994; Chief Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE) Department Jammu be allowed to conduct DPC of the employees on old pattern till the modification of SRO-380; all the PHE Divisions which have been transferred to Municipal Corporation Jammu be retained with Jal Shakti Department; all the GPF claims of the PHE employees be released within week time; entire backlog earned wages of daily wagers be released shortly; the gratuity Rs 5 lakhs be released in favour of all the retired and retiring daily wagers; one member from the family of deceased daily wager be given job in the department on compassionate grounds and the unregistered left out PHE workers be brought on NIC Portal.
They alleged that J&K Govt has betrayed the daily wagers because it has failed to implement the findings of the committee report which was to be given in six months. They further added that the DPC issue of the permanent employees is being ignored for the last so many years on the name of amending rules. They urged the additional Chief Secretary/ Incharge Jal Shakti to allow the Chief Engineer for conducting DPC meeting at its own on old pattern on seniority basis till the framing of new rules.
They further said the file related to amendment of promotion rules is gathering dust in the office of Additional Chief Secretary/Incharge Jal Shakti for the last two years and the Chief Minister of UT should take serious notice of it.
They warned the JKUT to solve all the issues of the employees within 15 days, otherwise the United Front will be forced to go for a decisive agitation.
