SRINAGAR, Aug 28: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and National Panthers Party (NPP) legislators today staged walked out in the Assembly after Speaker rejected demand to allow resolution in the State Assembly to condemn the ceasefire violations by Pakistan on border.
Soon after the Question Hour, BJP and NPP MLAs rose to their feet and demanded that the House pass a resolution to condemn the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the border in Jammu forcing 15, 000 people to flee their homes.
The issue was raised by Ashwani Kumar and others stood up raising slogans against Pakistan and demanding House to pass a resolution condemning ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
Speaker, Mubarak Gul, told the BJP MLAs that their Government is in Centre and they should talk to Defence Minister about ceasefire violations by Pakistan. “Don’t you have faith in Government of India? What can State Government do? We can only give relief and rehabilitate the border people”, he said.
Gul told MLA Ashok Khajuria to speak to Central Government as it their Government is in New Delhi. “You don’t trust Defence Minister. Defence Minister is talking, PM is talking, flag meeting has been held.”
The NPP and BJP members also raised the issue of Pakistan refugees and sought their rehabilitation. Speaker told them that he has noted down the refugee issue and Government will look at it.
MLA Engineer Rashid came out in the Well of the house shouting slogans and demanding that the Pakistani refugees be sent back to Pakistan. The NPP and BJP leaders raised slogans saying throw out the Pak agent.
Speaker disallowed any debate and resolution on the ceasefire violations saying that it has already been debated.
Not satisfied with the Speaker’s answer, the BJP and NPP legislators staged walk out from the Assembly in protest.
