Drug peddler held with heroin; medical shop sealed

UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: In two separate actions against drug peddling, Police arrested a narco smuggler in Tikri area and recovered 8.51 grams of heroin from his possession while a medical shop in Pancheri area was sealed for alleged violation of Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Police party of Police Posit Tikri, while performing traffic checking duty at Tikri naka point NHW, intercepted a pedestrian coming from Manthal side towards Tikri. During frisking, 8.51 grams of heroin was recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Rashid Latief, son of Abdul Latief resident of Gandoh, Doda.
In this regard, FIR No. 208/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Police team of Police Station Pancheri, while investigating the recovery of 20 capsules of Pregabalin (Schedule H drug) and 30 tablets of Spasmonil made on 01.12.2025 from Hoshiar Singh of Diggi Lander, conducted a follow-up (backward link) action on 10.12.2025.
During the inspection “Durga Medical Shop” at Lander, being run by Krishan Lal, son of Durga Dass of Lander, Tehsil Pancheri was sealed by the Drug Control Officer Udhampur for violation of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, as the shop was being operated without a valid license.
This is the 12th medical shop sealed by Udhampur Police for such violations.
