JAMMU, Dec 5: Describing Bani-Katli-Taggar-Billawar road as the lifeline of the entire population from remotest Bani Sub Division of district Kathua, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Billawar Satish Sharma today urged the higher authorities in the Government for the early completion of this road.
While appreciating the efforts of the Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh for bringing this road under Central Roads Fund (CRF) and its further upgradation, MLA said that this road which was conceived and undertaken for construction about two decades now, could not be completed till date. Even today about 8 kms patch of this road between Cheu (Deri Galla) and Dhamaan is yet to be connected on account of forest clearance.
It is unfortunate that even after 7-8 years of delay the PWD/PMGSY agencies failed to get forest clearance for the completion of this vital and important road in defence point of view. Sharma said that road will provide direct link to the Pathankote-Udhampur Defence (Dhar) Road from Pathankote-Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah-Doda-Kishtwar-Kashmir highway.
Describing this vital road link as his `dream project’, the MLA said that a population of over two lakhs from parts of Billawar and Bani Sub Divisions will be benefitted with its commissioning. He said it takes entire day while travelling from Bani to Jammu via Basohli when this road will be opened, one can undertake up and down journey from Bani for Jammu in just one day. Moreover, more than 45 % of the population of Bani Constituency falls in Lohai- Malhar and Mecchedi belt. These voters will be directly connected with their Block headquarters, Bani.
The MLA urged upon the Lt Governor, JKUT Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene into the matter and ensure early completion of this road.
