JAMMU, Nov 28: In a heart-warming gesture, a Hindu man here has gifted his 5 Marlas of land to a Muslim journalist, whose house was demolished in a Government drive against the anti-encroachment yesterday.
A 40-year-old house built over three marlas of land, and belonging to one Arfaz Ahmed Daing, who runs a digital media platform, New Sehar India, was razed in a joint action of JDA and Jammu and Kashmir Police at Channi area on Thursday, officials said.
Some reports claimed the action was taken selectively in retaliation to the journalist’s critical reporting of the administration and police.
The Jammu Development Authority officials had, however, categorically refuted the claims, stating that the action was part of a routine drive against the menace of encroachment in the city.
Expressing solidarity with Daing, a Hindu man of the locality, Kuldeep Sharma, gifted his 5 marla land to the former, claiming he will even raise funds for Daing to rebuild his house even if he has to beg.
