JAMMU, Nov 26: The Congress party has initiated a major revamp of its district organizational structure with a focus on infusing functional, committed and young leadership to strengthen the Indian National Congress.
This was stated by All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Mohan Markam while interacting with the media at the PCC headquarters in Jammu during the Sangthan Srijan Abhiyan, the party’s structural reformation mission.
Markam, a former minister and ex-president of the PCC Chhattisgarh, said that the restructuring process is being carried out in accordance with the AICC decision. He emphasized that the effort is to ensure a transparent mechanism through which individuals committed to the party’s ideology, the principles of democracy, and the Constitution of India can be brought into leadership roles at the District Congress Committee (DCC) level.
As the designated observer for the ongoing exercise, Markam informed that he will visit each assembly constituency in Jammu Rural district to meet party cadre as well as members of civil society. He noted that the party is open to individuals who wish to become part of the DCC, adding that application forms are available for anyone interested.
Highlighting the party’s focus on inclusivity, Markam said that priority would be given to youth, members of marginalized communities, the oppressed classes and women for leadership positions within the district committees. He also stated that the AICC has decided to empower the DCCs further as part of the broader organizational reforms.
