Regulatory reforms to bring accountability: FADA

JAMMU, Nov 25: FADA Jammu Chairperson Sanjay Aggarwal has welcomed the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s decision to introduce regulatory reforms for the used vehicle market across the Union Territory.
He said the move will bring much-needed structure and accountability to a sector that is currently much larger than the new vehicle market in J&K.
Aggarwal said the used car business has so far been dominated by unregulated brokers and car bazaar operators, many of whom were working without valid Trade Certificates, leading to violations of rules and loss of GST revenue.
He noted that the recent circular issued by the Transport Commissioner on November 24 provides clear guidelines for the registration and authorization of used vehicle dealers under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.
He added that the decision is timely in view of recent security concerns, stressing that proper verification and transparency in the pre-owned vehicle sector are essential.
Calling it a progressive step, he said the reforms will help protect consumers and ensure better compliance with the law.
