JAMMU, Nov 15: Various political, social and business organizations have expressed deep grief over the tragic accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar, which claimed at least nine lives and left over 30 injured. The incident has triggered widespread anguish across Jammu and Kashmir, with appeals for swift relief and comprehensive support to the affected families.
National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah expressed deep anguish over the tragic explosion. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He also prayed for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured in the incident.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that she was deeply anguished over the incident. She noted that the tragedy highlighted the difficult conditions under which police personnel operate to ensure public safety. She extended condolences to the families and prayed for strength and recovery for the injured.
Bharatiya Janata Party (J&K) expressed heartfelt grief, with State general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul saying he was deeply pained by the loss of innocent lives and the severe injuries caused by the blast. He said incidents of such magnitude shake the collective conscience of society. Koul prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured and assured that the entire BJP unit stands shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families and the police personnel affected in this tragic episode.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra expressed profound grief over the tragic accidental explosion. Karra termed the loss of precious lives of police personnel, revenue & FSL officials and a tailor in this incident “unfortunate and heartfelt wrenching.” The JKPCC president shared the grief with bereaved families and expressed heartfelt condolences. He also prayed for eternal peace to martyred persons.
Apni Party termed the blast deeply tragic and a distressing reminder of the unpredictable challenges faced by frontline personnel. Extending profound condolences to the bereaved families, the party said such unfortunate incidents leave behind emotional scars that are difficult to heal. It urged the administration to provide immediate financial compensation, ensure advanced medical treatment for the injured, and take necessary measures to prevent similar mishaps in the future.
NCP youth national spokesperson Rishi Kilam prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He described the incident as horrific and said repeated tragedies of this nature cause immense psychological trauma to society. Stressing the need to safeguard human lives, Kilam said peace, dignity and mutual respect must guide the response to such events, adding that those involved in terrorism must face stern and exemplary punishment.
Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Jammu expressed profound grief, with Chairman Rahul Sahai saying the heartbreaking loss of precious lives has cast a deep and sorrowful shadow across the entire region. He said the business fraternity shares the pain of the affected families and stands united with them in this extremely difficult moment. Sahai expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Lieutenant Governor, adequate compensation, structured relief measures, and long-term support will be extended to all victims of the tragedy.
Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) conveyed shock over the deaths of police and revenue officials, describing the incident as a severe blow to the community. President Javid Ahmad Tenga expressed solidarity with all bereaved families and emphasized that the tragedy has also inflicted distressing damage to residential and commercial properties in the vicinity. He appealed to the authorities to provide timely relief, especially to vulnerable households facing hardships during the harsh winter conditions, and ensure proper medical care for the injured.
Socio-political activist Agha Syed Karar Hashmi expressed profound shock and condolences, praising the courage of J&K Police. He appealed to the Centre and the J&K administration to provide a Government job to one member of each deceased family as recognition of their sacrifice.
Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), led by president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and prayed for the recovery of the injured. He said such incidents must never recur and reaffirmed EJAC’s solidarity with the affected families.
Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers cum Dealers Union also mourned the loss of lives in the accidental blast. Chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer expressed profound grief and shock over the tragedy, extending heartfelt condolences to the victim families and praying for the quick recovery of the injured.
Youth leader Maroof Khan described the blast as a wound to the collective conscience of J&K. Coming from a police family himself, he acknowledged the sacrifices of J&K Police and urged immediate compensation and best medical care for all affected.
