JAMMU, Nov 5: Retired police personnel under the banner of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum staged a demonstration in favour of their demands at Hari Singh Park here today.
Under the chairmanship of Ajit Singh, the protest highlighted the long-pending issues of pay anomalies and denial of benefits to retired personnel of J&K Police and Fire Services.
The protestors raised concerns over Government order number 229-F of 2014, which granted pay anomaly relief only prospectively, instead of from 1996 when the 5th Pay Commission was implemented.
They claimed this left out many retired personnel, some of whom have passed away without receiving any benefits.
The protesters demanded the Government provide the same relief to all affected retirees, including surviving beneficiaries.
They also pointed out that only retirees after 2019 are currently receiving ECH cards and urged the Government to extend this health facility to all retirees, regardless of their retirement year.
Further, they demanded the release of pending gratuity under Article 242 of Civil Services Rules and early implementation of a Tribunal Court order, which they say has already ruled in their favour.
