JAMMU, Oct 28: Former Indian international footballer Arun Malhotra visited the Jammu University Football Academy on a special invitation, motivating young players with his exceptional career achievements. Malhotra, who represented India for over six years, won the Gold Medal at the LG Cup in Vietnam (2002-03) and the Silver Medal at the Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad (2003-04). Hailing from Mohalla Pahadiyan, Jammu, he has also been honoured with the Sher-e-Kashmir Award by the J&K Government.
During his visit, Malhotra interacted with academy players and staff, sharing valuable insights and guidance. In discussions with Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director of Sports and Physical Education, it was decided that he will serve as an Advisor to the academy and conduct technical sessions during future visits. He also committed to supporting player participation in Indian leagues, facilitating training by national and international coaches and organizing build-up matches for enhanced exposure.
The visit concluded with friendly matches, in which the Jammu University Football Academy team emerged victorious, highlighting a promising start under the mentorship of the football legend.
