SRINAGAR, Oct 27: Raising a key public issue in the ongoing Legislative Assembly session, Jammu East MLA Yudhvir Sethi today voiced serious concern over the closure of the Fourth Tawi Bridge and demanded its immediate restoration.
Sethi said the damaged bridge has remained closed for over a month, causing severe inconvenience to commuters, traders, students, and office-goers.
He said the bridge is an important link connecting various parts of Jammu city, and its prolonged closure has led to daily traffic jams and hardships for the public.
“The people of Jammu are suffering due to the closure. The Government must act swiftly to restore the bridge and ensure smooth movement of vehicles,” he said, adding that the alternative routes are already overcrowded.
The MLA Jammu East stressed that the bridge holds both strategic and economic importance as it connects residential and commercial areas and helps ease pressure on other major routes.
He urged the UT Government to speed up technical assessments and start repair work at the earliest.
Sethi also called for regular monitoring of major public infrastructure to prevent similar issues in the future, reiterating his commitment to continue raising public concerns inside and outside the Assembly until concrete action is taken.
