SRINAGAR, Oct 23: The High Court has sought personal appearance of two officials for defiance of court order in contempt proceedings.

Justice Moksha Kazmi sought personal appearance of Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) for non-compliance of judgment passed in a Rehber-e-Taleem (ReT) case wherein the court had directed to finalize the process for the selection of the post on ReT in accordance with applicable scheme and rules.
Since the said process has not been done, compelling the candidate to file contempt proceedings against the DSEK and other officers. When the matter was taken up for consideration the ZEO concerned was present.
However, the Director School Education, Kashmir, and Chief Education Officer, Baramulla, have not chosen to appear before the Court, nor has any application seeking exemption from personal appearance was filed on their behalf.
Justice Kazmi again directed both the officials to appear before the court in terms of court orders with the warning that coercive measures shall be taken against them.
“Pursuant to order dated 14.10.2025, the respondent-Directorate of School Education has appeared virtually. However, he is unable to explain as to why the order dated/judgment dated 13.08.2014 has not been implemented till date. He is, accordingly, directed to appear in person along with the relevant record on the next date of hearing”, Justice Kazmi directed.
In other contempt proceedings, the court has sought personal appearance of Superintending Engineer, Kashmir Electric Maintenance and R.E. Circle, Bijbehara for non-compliance of court judgment. The counsel appearing for contemnor-SE sought some time to produce the record pertaining to the case. The court allowed the same as the last and final opportunity to produce the record.
