For some, life is everything, and for others, everything is life.
The perception of life here varies from person to person.
While a middle-class man runs to eat food,
A rich man runs to digest food.
For me, life is like a classroom experience:
Where we learn from lectures everyday.
Problems in life are like surprise tests;
Problems give us a reality check
On what we have achieved till now.
In life, this achievement is measured in terms of human bonds
Which have sustained the wrath of tough times.
Even then, it is difficult to understand:
Why people who have everything,
Who achieved everything,
Still wear a frown on their faces?
Why aren’t they satisfied?
Why does it seem that they have travelled
To a dark place in search of light?
On the contrary, someone who works
From dusk to dawn
Who reaps pleasure in his sweat of toil
Is content.
These questions keep me awake all night.
Hope I find answers soon.

Because she’s her
She walks on glass, he walks on ground,
Her slightest flaw, the loudest sound.
He stumbles once, they call it fate,
She trips, and suddenly she’s “too late.”
He dreams, they say his fire’s divine,
She dreams, they whisper, “Know your line.”
He leads, the crowd begins to cheer,
She leads, they mock what they should revere.
He’s praised for strength when he won’t cry,
She hides her tears, yet still they pry.
He speaks with rage “a man of might,”
She speaks her truth “too much, not right.”
He does the chores they sing in praise
When she does the same it’s just her place.
He’s called a king for what he owns,
She’s judged for flesh, not heart or bones.
They tell her, “Wait, your turn will come,”
As if her worth’s a beating drum.
Yet in her eyes, whole worlds ignite,
She’s made of thunder, fierce and bright.
And one day soon, the world will see,
She’s not his shadow – she’s the sea.
For tides will turn, and hearts will bend,
When double standards meet their ends
