Srinagar, Sept 28: The J&K National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) today criticized the Government for the non-payment of salaries to NHM employees for the past three months.
In a statement issued here, the Association’s chief spokesperson, Abdul Rauoof, said salary was “not a privilege but a right,” expressing deep anguish over the delay.
He said that despite repeated appeals, the concerned authorities had failed to resolve the long-pending issue.
“If the salaries are not credited within a week, JKNHMEA will be left with no option but to take a bold step and hit the streets in protest,” Rauoof warned.
“Timely salary is not a privilege but the fundamental and basic right of every employee,” he added.
Several NHM employees echoed the concern.
“We are struggling to manage our daily needs and our children’s school fees. How long can we survive like this?” asked a contractual employee posted at a rural health centre in north Kashmir.
Another health worker said, “We have served people even during the toughest times and other emergencies, but today our families are left in distress without salaries.”
