JAMMU, Sept 11: A low intensity blast took place in a house at Thukar Mohalla in Doda town this morning but there were no casualties.

Police have detained two persons identified as Javed Ahmed and Khurshid Ahmed for questioning in connection with the blast which took place in the lawn of Abdul Ahad’s house.

DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range Sridhar Patil told reporters that explosion like sound was heard in Doda town between 10.30 am to 11 am after which police rushed to the spot.
“Two persons have been detained whose questioning is on,” Patil said, adding FSL teams reached the spot for examination of the device.
Samples have been collected, the DIG said, adding further investigations are on.
The explosion triggered fresh panic in the town.
However, no one was injured in the blast.
The police found splinter marks at the entrance of the house and immediately cordoned off the scene.
Efforts are on by police and Forensic Science Lab (FSL) teams to ascertain the details of the blast, police said.
Two persons – Javed and Khurshid – have been detained for questioning. They were present at the place during the blast, the sources said.
According to reports, it appears that crude explosives were used in the blast, which is being investigated by FSL and police teams.
The last blast in Doda took place on January 8, 2010, in which six people, including four women, were injured in the house of Mohammad Iqbal in Seri, Bhaderwah town of Doda district.
Before that, one person was killed and 17 others injured in a powerful explosion at the bus stand in Doda on May 5, 2003.
