JAMMU, Sept 11: With the help and support of Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation (MHSF) members and prominent citizens, the first phase of reconstruction of the revered Yaadgar Gurdwara Sahib Shri Mahant Bachittar Singh in Poonch was completed today.
The Gurdwara had suffered extensive damage during Operation Sindoor.
The restoration was undertaken under Project Garima, envisioned and guided by Dr Ritu Singh, Ajat Shatru Singh, Ranvijay Singh and Adishree Singh of the Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation.
To commemorate this milestone of faith, resilience and unity, a special function was held at Gurdwara Digiana Ashram, Jammu, under the banner of Project Garima.
The solemn gathering of over 250 participants, including community elders, Sikh leaders, Foundation members, social activists and citizens, came together to honour the resilience of Poonch and reaffirm the importance of preserving sacred heritage.
The program commenced with a soulful Ardaas by Dera Mukhi Mahant Manjeet Singh, invoking blessings for peace, unity and protection for the people of Poonch, while remembering those who endured suffering during Operation Sindoor.
Addressing the congregation, Dr Ritu Singh said, “This mission is not only about rebuilding a Gurdwara, but about restoring faith, dignity and the cultural legacy of our people.”
“Project Garima is a tribute to resilience and unity, reminding us that sacred spaces are symbols of strength and hope. We are humbled to stand with the community of Poonch and to reaffirm our shared values of compassion and service,” she added.
Narinder Singh, president, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Poonch, expressed deep gratitude to the MHSF for its steadfast commitment, calling the project a restoration of both faith and identity.
Words of appreciation were also conveyed by Prithpal Singh (president, Krishna Ghatti Gurdwara) and Ajeet Singh (vice president), who acknowledged the profound impact of this historic reconstruction.
The initiative continues to stand as a symbol of resilience, unity and cultural preservation, keeping alive the spirit of Poonch and its sacred heritage.
