BHADERWAH, Sept 6: Irked by the non-availability of proper water supply in the town for the last 15 days, the people of Bhaderwah here today staged a protest demonstration and raised slogans against the Jal Shakti Department (JSD), district administration and the local MLA.
The protestors also blocked traffic movement at Seri Bazaar and raised slogans against the administration and local BJP MLA Daleep Singh Parihar.
They claimed that the JSD has failed to ensure proper water supply even after 15 days as some water supply pipes got damaged in recent flash floods.
The protesters claimed that the administration, UT Government and BJP MLA are taking them for granted and due to their pathetic attitude, lame excuses and false promises, entire town is reeling under severe water crisis.
The protestors also blocked the main hub of the town at historic Seri Bazar saying that they were left with no other option but to hit streets for their basic need.
Officer of Police and civil administration tried to pacify the protestors but they refused to call off the protest till the water supply is restored.
Tehsildar Bhaderwah, Kamal Preet Singh said that JSD is trying its best to restore the piped water supply.
He said that water supply in majority of the town will be restored soon.
